HI,

The plural form just tends to make the regret you are expressing slightly more formal. The expression 'Present his/her/their apologies' is used in a very formal sense when you interrupt a meeting or discussion and deliver a message on behalf of another person.

Hello, please correct my examples below. Thanks a lot!

Ma'am, apologies for the hassle.
I want to ask an apology to your friend for what happened yesterday.
Please extend my apology to her because it was not intentional.
I am apologizing because I know you are right.
Apology, I will make sure the trouble happened a while a go will not happen again.

Hi, teacher!

When I should use the word 'apology' and 'apologies'?

Please explain the difference. Thank you very much : )
