Hi all,

I have noticed there are two similar expressions exist:

the war in the 1980s
the war of the 1980s

What's the difference between these two?

I'd appreciate your help!

There's basically no difference. The only distinction I can think of is that "in the 1980s" would just tell the time when it happened, while "of the 1980s" would imply that the war was characteristic of that era. Or it may not.
