Does history have any value for people living in the present?
History is a study of the past, everything has its own history. Historians study history want to know what happened in the past, some people agree to the act of historians, which they think would exert a positive effect on our present life; while others, argue that history is not vital because history is outdated. As for me, I deem that learning something in the past has its own merits, it would not only assist us in the understanding of human beings and society, but also help us shape our ability and characteristics to cope with our daily lives.
Adimittly, history makes a myriad of contributions to the understanding of our world and society. First and the foremost, history provides a amount of information and evidences about the life in ancient times including all kinds of creatures and early human beings. Scientists devote themselves to the study of that information and evidences in purpose of learning about the living environment of ancient creatures, the behavior of our ancestors…For example, fossils that engraved in the stone can give scientists clues that how continent moved in the past, and anticipate how it will move in the future, like the theory of continental drift that part of the result of the study fossils. There is no denying the fact that the past causes the present, and so the future, any time we want to know why something happen today, we have to check history to analyze potential factors that could intrigue it.
Furthermore, there is an old saying goes that reading history inspires wisdom. History is a mirror of past, by learning it we could be acquire some useful and valuable experience from our ancestors, like hunting for food, making clothes for warmth. In that way, we could avoid making the same mistakes.
In conclusion, based on what I have mentioned above, the effect of history couldn’t be ignored, only through history can we know how thing will changed, only through history can we understand the factors that cause things happen; only through history can we be aware that what have been remained.
