166. Your school has enough money to purchase either computers for students or books for the library. Which should your school choose to buy —computers or books? Use specific reasons and examples to support your recommendation.
Computers are slowly replacing books as the main information provider. Books are becoming outdated and are on the path to extinction. In few years, all information from the printed materials is going to be provided by the computers. Schools should buy more computers because you can access the information faster and there is much more information as well as current information.
Computers can access the information much faster than books. These days, with the advancements in technology, computers are becoming faster than they have ever been before. This advancement in the field of Information Technology will dominate our everyday lives, even in the way we access our information. With printed materials like an encyclopedia, you have to flip many pages of this giant oversized book to find the information that you want. This takes tremendous amount of time. With high tech computers, I can type keywords in the search bar of the database and the information I need will prop up in a matter of seconds. This change would help save time for even the busiest students, and they can do other things such as beginning their research paper or working on their work cited.
There is more information in the computers. All the information in the printed materials will be transferred into the computers. The database of information is going to be larger. And also, the current information that scientists have gathered will be put online instead of the books. So, books won’t have any current articles or information about certain subjects. The information in the books will be far outdated and will be deemed useless. I use my school’s online database whenever I need to do a research paper or other assignments that require gathering of information. The reason I do this is because I can gather more information and current data, and my good grades reflect this.
Schools should buy computers. In the world of increasing IT technology, information from printed materials and current information is going to be stored in the computers. And also, the speed we are accessing these information will be infinitely faster.
