“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success.” Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above?
There is a common conception that success comes from hard work. However, the role of luck in getting to success is also very great as it will facilitate our path to success. Personally, I disagree with the quotation that “luck has nothing to do with success”.
Hard work is the key that leads us to success. At school, in order to achieve high performance, students have to start working hard since the beginning of the semester. If they do not, they will be faced with a number of obstacles in the end of the year and likely to get bad marks. Similarly, if we want to succeed in our careers, we have to devote considerable effort. For example, a journalist might have to write thousands of articles before he can achieve success in his career. He had to interview a number of people, did hundreds of research in order to write a brilliant article that makes his name to be known.
Although hard work is of pivotal important, luck is so helpful. In the entertainment industry, it is not merely because of hard work that many artists rose to fame. Quiet a few actors, actresses had been discovered by great managers who helped them to become famous and gain large fortune. Moreover, in reality, it is very difficult for businessmen to become successful without luck. In the market economy, everything is changing continuously. If they are lucky enough to avoid risks, their investments will be profitable. Additionally, in doing research, many scientists also achieved break through just by chance. In such case, it is obvious that luck plays an important part in success.
In short, while hard work is essential to success, luck may help bring people to success without suffering much. Those who work hard and meet with luck can reach their goals faster and more conveniently than those who work hard only.
