Hello Timur,

Many thanks that you explained to me what means to study in the 8th. So when you go to the 5th Form you become a secondary schoolboy, in the US they say a high-school and in the UK. a grammar school. My American grandchildren go to high-school, because they are 18 and 16. My 18 year-old grand-daughter are going to go to University in next year.

Boxing is a very excited sport. It is very popular in our Country also. I prefer the hiking. I can imagine the places where you go because sometimes I feel that I know very well Lake Baikal, Buryat Republic, Kyren and Tunkinskaya Valley where Ayana lives.

I've sent to your friend, Sambo one of my favourite songs, so I send to you the other.

Take care:
Kati Svaby

Hello Bharati and Kati,

It is me, Yandgima again. It is difficult to pronounce, isn't it? My name comes from the name of Buryat's God of children.

I study at Kyren school too in the 8th Form (or as the Americans say - in the 8th Grade).
I like sports very much. My favourite ones are Volley-ball and Basketball and I attend the Clubs of this kinds of sport at school. My favourite school subjects are English and PE and Maths (Just a little).

I hate staying at home all day long. I like meeting with my friends, visiting different places of our valley. My dream is to go to our wild resort Shumak, which is situated high in the Sayany mountains. It is very difficult to get there: only by helicopter, on horseback or on foot.

Boys are too busy these days and they will answer you later.

Katy, thank you for your marvellous songs!

Take care,
Yandgima

Hello Bharati, Kati, Mujibur, Bev, Alan and everyone who is ready to support us!

It is so nice of you to help us keep our initiative alive. Children are so happy to participate in this experiment. We even made up the kind of timetable for recording of our messages. And today my schoolchildren were ready to answer your messages, and they prepared them, and they were going to record them. But again the Internet connection was lost and we have to wait till it will be in order again.

Please, do not forget us. We will do our best to return here.

Yuri

Hello Yuri and all of your children,

First I would like to show you two my grand-children who are 17 and 14 year-old. So they are almost in the same age than you. The bigger's name is Tomi and the younger is Peti. Tomi is an obsessed sailor. In all summer he is in a sport camp and he is sailing. When he was 4 year-old he founded that he want to be a sailor. I don't know whether he will be a sailor somewhere in the oceans but one thing is sure that he never stop this sport sailing. It is a sport what he can do as far as he likes.

Peti plays the clarinet, he goes a musical school, he sings in the school choir. This choir is the children chorus of the Hungarian Radio. Just now he can't participate in the choir because his voice breaks ( becomes permanently deeper because of the age of 13-14.)

I send you one of my favorite songs. This is humorous, not SAD, it is is an American western folk ballad.

I think that this old man is very likeable.

here is its lyrics:

/thou art (in times past) = you are/in our days/

Let me song to them, me also.

Take care:
Kati Svaby

Hi Kati, Bharati and everyone,

I am sending this message from my home.

I am so sorry that my schoolchildren are not able to record their messages here on "Don't be shy" thread. Today we managed to send a written message of Bair but we were not allowed to enter the page and to record his voice. I think it is because of the Youtube. The access to many sights is forbidden by our school safety system.

So, I decided to open a new topic and its name is "My first steps in English". Please, come there and talk to us. But I have a request not to send any other files except written messages and Java voice messages. Otherwise, our automated guarding system will forbid the access to the thread.

Best regards,
Yuri

Hello Yuri,

Do you know this record? If you have time could you translate for me?

I know one of Lenin's a saying it about this:" It would be a war for us in favour of our revolution but our little Nicholas won't do us the favour. " ( this is written not word by word only from memory. Perhaps on this record we can hear Tsar Nicholas II when did he declare the War I ?

Many thanks:
Kati

Hello, everybody! How are you?
I'm Katya, one of the Mr. Zverev's students. In the spring and summer 2011 I communicated at this wonderful site, but in the autumn I had to go to another town and there I didn't have a possybility to come into the Internet and continue communication with you. However, now I am at home and glad to communicate with you. I will be really happy if you communicate with me and tell me about you, your interests, your country, customs of your culture and so on.
P.S.: I'm sorry, my English isn't very good, but I'll try to make it better.

Hi Katya,

Thank you for your message. It is great that you are here again. I see that you have changed your login. Maybe you didn’t like how your previous login sounded or maybe you forgot your password. Please, come to talk with us here more often.

Unfortunately Youtube files, which are downloaded on Don’t Be Shy page, prevent our schoolchildren from sending their messages on this very thread from school computers. You know that there is a filter in our school network and some websites that may bear dangerous information are forbidden there. That’s why we had to change the page and now we are talking with our friends from different countries on the other thread. Its name is “My first steps in English” and we’ll be happy to meet you there. Children remember you and they are eager to talk with you.

Now there are some voltage problems at our school. Because of using so many electric heaters the modem cannot work properly and Internet connection is lost. I think during our school vacation the electrician will solve this problem. We have already talked to Mujibur, Bharati, Mauricio and Megan. You know Mujibur and you have already talked to him. Bharati is a young married woman from India. Mauricio is a teacher from Brazil. Megan is from the Netherlands but she was born and bred in the USA. They all are very nice people. I think you will like them very much too.

Take care,
Your teacher Yuri

P.S. You may call me and others in a more democratic way here on the Forums -just Yuri, Bharati or Mujibur. It will make our communication easier.

Hello everyone,

Not too long ago this very topic was pretty popular here. Why not bring it back to life? I found it sunk on the second page and it was going to sink further... This thread was founded by Alan and he asked some natives not to be shy and send us some voice messages. Dear natives, we need to hear you live speech so much!

Then we, non-natives, occupied this part of the Forum and often we had fun indeed. But still we need you here, dear natives. Please, please, please, don't be shy and share your precious voices with us!

And I ask those learners who stiil feel ill at ease to send their voice messages. Please, do it! There is no other ways to learn to speak English except speaking English! I hope you'll come here and we'll have a good talk. Don't be shy and

Take care,
Yuri
