the gap between rich people and poor people #1 (permalink) Mon Feb 28, 2011 16:37 pm   the gap between rich people and poor people

topic: Some people beliveve that a range of technology available has increased the gap between rich people and poor people, but others believe it has opposite effects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Currently, the high-tech is playing an increasingly important role in people’s daily lives and social development. There is a discussion about whether a range of technology available has increased the gap between rich people and poor people. In this essay, I will discuss the issue from both perspectives.

It is true that the gap between rich people and poor might be wider. To begin with, using high-tech tools will bring capitalists more profits. However, workers’ wages do not increase with the pace of the profits. The workers in the period of the industrial revolution is a case in point. In addition, large parts of low-income earners have not ability to afford a high technology product. As a result, they cannot improve the productivity by the high-tech. Another important point is that the population of technology will cast workers into unemployment, because machines can finish works more effective.

Conversely, there are some individuals against this idea. Primarily, technological development is essential in the improvement of society. Everyone has obtained a great many benefits from it. Our living standards, for instance, is enhancing steadily now. Moreover, the high-tech is utterly helpful to intellectuals who are not rich. With this product, they will have able to create more value to themselves, even change their destinies.

In conclusion, although there are several advantages of the technology available, it seems that using the high technology overmuch will enlarge the gap of wealth. And as far as I am concerned, we should consider the public interests and ensure the rational use of the high-tech.
