toelf essay- Knowledge gained from experience or knowledge gained from books. #1 (permalink) Tue Mar 01, 2011 15:17 pm   toelf essay- Knowledge gained from experience or knowledge gained from books.

Topic: It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?

Which source is more important? Knowledge gained from experience or knowledge gained from books.

It has been always a hotly debate that which is more important to gain knowledge. People who believe practice makes perfect hold the view that we had better receive knowledge from experience, however, others argue that we should obtain knowledge from books. In my opinion, both experiences and books are very essential resources, and have relevant merits we can not ignore.

On the one hand, some information cannot be obtained from books. Numerous successful individuals in the world were not achieve goals in their students age, relatively, they enhance their abilities after years of learning in society, finally to achieve great success . A excellent lecturer is considered to be excellent because he can make speech in the front of thousands of hundreds of audiences and will not feel a little nervous, that is the result of years and years practicing. Even though he learns well about the speaking skill from book, he will end up with nothing if he can not make any summary from experience. Some skills have to be obtained only from keep in touch with outsides.

At the same time, knowledge that comes from our experience is most direct and simple. Almost our every basic skill came from experiences, such as walking, articulating, reading even thinking. Science theories in the books sometimes are abstract and difficult to understand. Books will describe a surgery procedure with a myriad of sentences, making people confused and having no good impacts on helping memory, while it only take several hours to keep that in mind through practical operation. We always learn better to imitate others, there is not doubt that learning something in daily life provide a way to help us learn in a more direct and simple way.

Yet the importance of books can't be neglected. Shakespeare told us books are the nourishment of the whole world. A life without books, like no sunshine; Wisdom without books, is like a wingless bird. Books enable us to increase our basic knowledge to do other things, we have to learn basic principles before we step into society to experience, otherwise we might do things in a no rule and a clueless way. Taking writing for example, many prestigious writers are wisdom before they become famous. Although some of their works appear to come from their own direct observations, and experiences of lives. If they have no idea about how to write, how to organize stories and how to make articles logical, they would never become famous in the world.

In conclusion, both sources of knowledge are important. Sometimes one is more important than the other in accordance with specific circumstances. Only we can do is to balance these two kinds of sources to help us live a successful life.

Sabrinayaa you have not understood the question correctly. It says 'In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?'. You have to take your pick and then compare it, why is it better. Please rewrite your essay. Make sure it is 300-350words Maximum.
