Essay stress and teachers #1 (permalink) Wed Mar 02, 2011 1:53 am   Essay stress and teachers

Please, could anyone check my essay?

Thanks a lot.

One of the most challenging professions today is teaching and this is mainly because the teachers are in a position of too much responsibility where they are responsible for the actions of every young and unpredictable group of people of almost the same age group. Teaching has been known to be a profession with many rewards and with this rewards comes challenges that are topped by stress. You therefore must have vocation or zeal to undertake teaching very effectively.

There are several factors that cause teacher stress and they include time pressures. A teacher is constantly changing classes and keeping time just to realize that they are being pressured for time. Besides, the working conditions for teachers have not been known to be great. Problems that can lead to teacher stress are a lack of adequate administration and organisation in the school. This requires a strong principal with a strong vision of how the school should be run. A run on from this would be a lack of adequate supplies. Teachers that lack board erasers, markers or anything that effects their ability to do the job will suffer from increased stress levels.

Another factor that will bring teachers stress is the lack of motivation in the students. It is very hard to develop motivation in pupils because they must be willing to lean. Conflicts with colleagues will cause teacher stress and the best thing is to avoid confrontation and show a better example to the pupils. Having said all these, many people in the world have taught for a very long time and continue to do so for the love of teaching.

Another cause of teacher stress is their low status. One thing we can be sure of is that teachers do not teach for the money. They have therefore associated this with low status. This makes teachers look down upon themselves and some regret why they ever got into the trade. Another cause for teacher stress includes pupil indiscipline. You can be sure that pupils will always find some way of making you unhappy and leave you wondering how you are going to deal with the situation. If you are the kind of teacher who is quick to anger, you have very frustrating future ahead. Feelings of dislike might be harboured inside a teacher but, the ideal thing is to come up with a solution that will enable the child to realize their problem and hopefully make them improve.

In conclusion, along these lines, I try to say that teachers do not seem to command the respect that they used to 30 years ago. It seems that society, and kids in particular, do not appreciate how important their role is in giving children the skills to be successful in adulthood. However, most teachers enjoy teaching and get great satisfaction from seeing their students improve over time. This, in fact, is good for their stress level.

Hi,

As you said, Katty, there are a lot of reputations, and emphases on the already mentioned points! The points covered the topic. If we remove the crossed out words, it will be a nice essay.
