Hello

In my opinion, it means, 'not any of the two of them be.'

Anyway, in my opinion you should tell us at least the complete sentence.

Hi,

This comes from the play, Hamlet by Shakespeare. It means 'Do not lend anyone money or borrow any money from someone. 'Be' here is the imperative form.

This is the quotation:

Quote:
Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend
