SOP review for Biomedical Engineering Masters Programme

Firstly,i would like to thank all the contributors and creators of this useful website.
I am going to apply for masters programme thus i wrote first draft of my SOP.Can you please review and give your opinions.All comments are welcomed.Thanks in advance.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Technology draws my attention since i was a child.When i pass the examination for the university, i chose a department which i can learn more about technology,Electronics Engineering.When i was sophomore at university,i had an operation from my eye.The medical devices which doctors used in my operation impressed me very much.Subsequently at 3rd grade, i take an introduction to biomedical engineering course and after i bought “An introduction to Biomedical Engineering ” book to get informed about biomedical engineering and its applications in daily life.This field is a great opportunity for me to earn a masters degree through implementing my knowledge which i learnt in my bachelors degree.Besides,its purpose, to serve human health, is extremely important for me to specialize in this area.

I study my bachelors degree of electronics engineering at a prestigious college ,(collage name).Until my last year at university i took many courses, and some courses attract me more such as Signals and Systems,Microprocessors,Analog Electronics,Systems Engineering and introduction to Biomedical Engineering.In my last year of bachelors degree i have a CGPA 3.09/4.00 because of the competitive grading system.Besides the academic side i also made practical jobs.I did an internship at (institution name).During my intership i worked in the Systems Engineering Department and i tried to make F-16 radar display unit using MATLAB and its GUI toolbox. Moreover, i worked for Children University which is a branch of (college name).Teaching basic electronic lessons and designing circuits in the direction of children’s thought were my duty.Throughout this work, i made simulations on Proteus-Isıs and made PCB designs via Proteus-Ares.Also i programmed PIC’s using the CCS C software.Besides this i had a great experience about teaching lessons to children.In addition to these job experiences i worked for technical student clubs.I was a member of solar car team.Furthermore i participate in robot festival,made line following robot with the student branch of IEEE of (college name).As a consequence of these experiences i implemented my theoritical knowledge to practical, strengthen my problem solving ability and also gave me engineering perspective.

Furthermore,as its my last year in bachelors degree, our college give us a thesis project.In this project i work with two of my friends.My project’s advisors are Prof.Dr.xxx,who is chair of the (institution name)and Assoc.Prof.Dr.yyy who is Chair of Electronics Engineering Department of (college name).The content of my project is about respiratory signals monitoring which are gathered from oral,nasal and abdominal regions.To implement this project ,we are using thermocouples to get signals from oral,nasal regions and for abdominal region we use strain gauge.In addition to this we are using microprocessors for digitalizing signals and usb interface to transfer the data,on the other hand in PC we are designing a graphical user interface to present information about signals and other datas to help doctors diagnose respiratory system disorders.

Drexel's excellence in the biomedical engineering field,espicially biomedical systems and imaging gives me great enthusiasm for studying its graduate program.Also Drexel's interdisciplinary working with other departments and collaborative professionals is a great chance for me to enlarge my vision in the biomedical engineering field.I believe that Drexel's well equiped research labs ,Co-op programs and diverse courses will help me pursue a career in this field.I am interested in the fNIR researches at (facility name) which are pursued by Dr.xx and Dr.yyy

I believe , i have the eligibility to be a part of Drexel's master student.My determination,energy and high team work rate will make great contribution to Drexel’s projects and goals.After masters degree i hope to get my Phd at Drexel and continue my career in the biomedical engineering field by means of Drexel’s scientific discipline.
