Please check this sentence #1 (permalink) Thu Mar 10, 2011 16:48 pm   Please check this sentence

Hi everyone,

Please help me check the following sentence:

'As regards to chicken, the consumption increased dramatically from just under 150g in 1979 to about 225g in 1994, then increased again but less significantly in the next 10 years, reaching a peak of 250g in 2002.'

I wonder if this sentence is OK. If it is not, please suggest a better expression.

Thank you so much.

Regards, Anh

One possiility:

With regard to chicken, consumption increased dramatically between 1979 and 1994, rising from just under 150g to 225g. It continued to increase, though less significantly, over the next decade, reaching a peak of 250g in 2002.

I think you need to qualify the measures more. 150g per who/what over what period? Possibly the wider context makes it clear, but when I look at that I imagine 150grammes of chicken per person per meal which doesn't emtirely make sense.

Hi Beeesneees,

Thank you so much for your useful advice. And yes, you are right, I am talking about the consumption of chicken in grams per person per week.

Have a good weekend.

Kind regards, Anh

Hi,

In that case you could clarify your sentence like this:
With regard to chicken, consumption increased dramatically between 1979 and 1994, rising from just under 150g per person per week to 225g. It continued to increase, though less significantly, over the next decade, reaching a peak of 250g per person per week in 2002.

The thought has crossed my mind that he might be giving pirated serial numbers. I don't wish to delete the posts without giving him a chance to explain, but I have formed a cunning plan.
