I do understand it is not independent writing, and there is no passage or lecture but I would be very grateful if u check my grammar and the structure of these 2 essays.
Writing task 1
Both the passage and the lecture discuss the idea of Manifest Destiny which took the origin in 1844 presidential campaign.
While the reading states the influence of the idea of Manifest on the voters, the lecture presents the attitude of Native Americans who can’t vote to this issue.
These people had already lived on these lands for a long time. When the Oregon Territory was occupied by Russians, British and Americans, the Natives knew nothing about the ownership of these lands.
This territory was significant because it had been the source of farming and fur trades. Despite the pinching rights of Natives, other residents were supporting Polk’s campaign and he was made the leader of the USA.
Comparing the text and the lecture it can be supposed the residents including Americans and immigrants were reckoned more account in the society so Native Americans met with a balk while fighting for this land.
Despite the fact that the idea of Manifest Destiny is questionable, the Americans are still the owners of this land.
Writing task 1
The speaker talks about desertification problem, which can become global in the future. The sense of this conclusion is in increasing of desert lands all over our planet.
Firstly, increasing the dessert zone can lead to famine due to disappearing of fertile lands. As population is growing people need more places for living and farming. And this is impossible because of deserts. As a result famine occurs. The passage deals with the general knowledge about the desert. It contains only definitions of different kinds of deserts, gives a description of them, describes where they are usually found and explains why, with no saying about the global problems.
Also, the lecture gives us an example in the history when a desert covered the farming lands. People had to leave their places and farms for living because they became unusable. Fortunately, the lands can be restored by using new technologies but the global desertification can’t be stopped by this method.
