Dear to whom may it concern,
Would you please clear these two sentences to me?
http://www.english-test.net/toeic/listening/are_we_going_to_get_our_usual_bonus_this_year_do_you_think.html.1-
I don't think it's realistic in view of the current downtown. What is the opinion about the current downtown?
2-It looks like we'll have to leave early today because we are due to have a long power cut soon. What about are due to have? And the whole meaning of the sentence?
Sincerely yours
Mitra

#1: The word "Downtown" is not correct. I believe you mean "downturn". Downtown is the center of a city. Downturn (in this sense) means a negative direction of the economy.
#2: I'm not sure exactly what you mean here. A "power cut" is a British (not American) term for a stoppage of electrical service. Americans would say "blackout", "the power was shut off" or "the power went off". The sentence means that the electricity is scheduled to be turned off in a while, so we need to stop what we are doing before then.
