Innovation, adaptability, on time delivery & quality are the main virtues of a successful company today. While innovation and adaptability are related to conceptual design of the idea /project, quality and on time delivery are related to the implementation of the idea. The role of a company’s boss, or in other words a CEO or a supervisor, is instrumental in the success of any company. How can we imagine GOOGLE wit out its founder CEO Eric Schmidt or FACEBOOK without Mr.Zukenberg? That brings us to the question of what are the qualities of a good boss who play a pivotal role in the success of his company.
Always being a step ahead is what makes a supervisor different from others. He should be able to visualise tomorrow. i.e he should be able to identify customer’s needs in advance so that he can lead his company into a right direction.
He should be innovative with his ideas. A good boss always encourages his employees to think differently and innovatively. Had it not been because of Eric’s innovative idea of a search engine, we would not have seen the emergence of GOOGLE.
Appreciation is one of the best ways to motivate people. Hence a good boss should always try to identify the best efforts put in by his employees and ensure that he appreciate them for their efforts.
A good supervisor is courageous, dynamic and has strength to execute his plans. In spite of facing certain constraints such as law suits, it is the courage & strength of Mr.Zookenberg which led to the success of FACEBOOK.
A boss should be able to take right decision at right time. Because, not only the decision itself but also the time of the decision will have a major impact on its outcome. “Lead by example” should be the motto of a good boss. For example, by being punctual, he can actually motivate his colleagues to be punctual.
So, innovativeness, courage, decision making & self confidence are some, if not all, of the virtues that a good supervisor should have to lead a team /company successfully. While it is true that a good company will have a good boss, a good boss alone cannot build a successful company. In fact, efficiency of the supervisor lies in extracting the best output from his employees and in coordinating his resources efficiently.
