Couple of years ago, when I went to USA on a business visit, I was astonished by the status of their roads & highways.US authorities were meticulous and precise not only the design but also in the construction of their roads. No wonder why USA is the most developed country in the country.
Roads & Highways symbolize the development of a country. Any country with better roads and highways will have better opportunity for industrial growth. Hence it is imperative for the government of any developing country, in which there is still a lot of scope for infrastructure development, should spend more money on development of roads & highways. Being a citizen of India, one of the fastest growing economies in the world today, I recommend that our Govt. should give priority to infrastructure development.
According to a survey, it takes, on an average, 3 hours to travel 100 kilometers in India. It signifies the pathetic condition of our existing roads & highways. Our Govt should take all the necessary steps to improve the conditions of existing roads and to construct new highways.
Right now industrial development is concentrated only in certain parts of country. Most of the industries are present in those cities, like bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai etc…, which are better connected by road with rest of the country. Whereas there are many other states, like Assam and Meghalaya, and cities, like Patna and Bhubaneswar, which are under developed and people over there are economically impoverished. In order to reduce this disparity & to spread industrial development across the country, the Govt should establish better road connectivity among these states & cities.
Establishing better connectivity between under developed states and rest of the country will help us in reducing the poverty, in improving their economic status and in providing better healthcare & education facilities.
While achieving 8% of annual growth rate is a no mean task, sustaining with that growth rate is equally, if not more, difficult. It can be achieved only by providing better infrastructure facilities. In order to sustain 8% growth rate, and to ensure every Indian will receive the benefits of the economic reforms, the government of India should take the necessary steps to improve the infrastructure facilities in under developed states of India.
