Hi everyone,

I would like your help about this.
What am I supposed to understand when someone answers to a dinner invitation:
"Dinner is always on, thanks"

Thank you!

This is my conjecture only:

It probably means that the offer to have dinner is always valid/stands, i.e. dinner hasn't been cancelled/postponed etc.
It's similar to

We're always on for dinner?

Hi,

I think that the use of 'always' suggests that the idea of being invited for dinner is always welcome and appreciated. If it was likely to be cancelled, I would suggests 'is still on'.

Thank you to you both.
I will stick to Alan's suggestion!
