Dear to whom may it concern,
What does it mean? (How often do we get paid?)It means how often do we get salary? And ‘get paid’ is a kind of passive? What happen when we use get before a verb? And why? Would you please clear all things about GET for me?
With the best regard

Hi Mitra,

'Get' + a past participle is a kind of passive and in your sentence means: How often do we receive pay/money/wages/salary? How often is money paid to us by our boss? The idea is that 'get' indicates that someone does something for/to you as in: I get my hair cut at this salon. I am getting the grass cut tomorrow by the gardener. I got held up in the traffic.

It can also be used when it suggests 'become' as in: They got lost on their way to the station. They got confused because they didn't understand the language.

Dear Alan,
Can I use get when I am talking about myself? Like this: I am getting the grass cut tomorrow.
With the best regard

Hi Mitra,

When you say:
Quote:
I am getting the grass cut tomorrow
what you are saying is that you are going to get someone to cut the grass for you tomorrow.
