Hi, I was just curious if you can use this passive form. It is about continuous presence.

e.g. I have my computer being reinstalled.

I know I should use "I'm having my computer reinstalled", but the sentence above mentioned makes sense to me as well and I have this hunch for it being correct, even if it is probably informal. What do you think?

It sounds very messy to my native-English ears, Keyser Soze.

I would use 'to be' rather than 'to have' unless I were emphasizing the fact that someone else was doing the re-installation for me.

My computer is being reinstalled.

Incidentally, is your computer being installed somewhere (which is what your sentence seems to indicate) or do you mean that you are having your computer software reinstalled on your computer?

Hi Keyser Soze,

If you want to express the idea of continuousness in the process, it would be better to show this by making 'have' continuous as in:

I am having this computer repaired.

Hello, first of all, thank you both for your replies.

@Beeesneees - well, honestly, I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard something similar to this kind of "emphasizing of passive in the continuousness". Nevertheless, regarding your question, I have meant the second one explanation - someone is reinstalling SW on my computer right now. Does it change anything?

Then I suggest you use Alan's construction: I'm having software reinstalled on my computer.
