1. The boy often sleeps with his eyes open.
2. The girl listens to music with her eyes closed.

Can anyone please explain why we use open in the first sentence but closed in the second sentence, why don't we say opened in the first sentence instead?

The counterpart of 'open' (adjective) is 'closed' (adjective). 'Opened' cannot make an adjective.
