I hanker to do something to be in everybody's eye. Correct?

Hi Untaught1988,

Not too sure about this expression. 'Hanker' is all right. I can only suggest a similar idea: I hanker to have my name on everybody's lips.

Hi Untaught,

With your original sentence, I would make it flow more readily by making slight adjustments:

I hanker to be in the public eye.

in the public eye - to be seen and known by everyone... to be a celebrity, as it were.
