Smoking Ban #1 (permalink) Wed May 11, 2011 16:26 pm   Smoking Ban

Hi everyone. Could someone to correct my daily essay?
Thank you.

SMOKING BAN

This year has been introduced a new smoking ban in Spain. Like most of the laws, not everyone agree with this law especially Spanish people who they have habits and customs very tough. I am from Spain and I live in Spain too. Then, I am one of the Spaniards affected by this law.

First of all I have to say that actually I am a non-smoker although I used to smoke when I was younger. As a non-smoker I am very happy that smoking is banned in the majority of enclosed public spaces. It is even banned in outside spaces close to hospitals, schools or playgrounds.

Until now, smokers did not respect to non-smokers. I remember being in any enclosed space such as buses, trains, cinemas; and I had to breathe the smoke that their cigarettes produce. They did not care whether there were children close to them even their own children.

From my point of view, smokers are very selfish. They just think about their selves. I do not mind if they want to destroy their own health but they have to realize that at the same time they are polluting my lungs as well. Besides when you are near to people who are smoking, all your clothes and hair stink to smoke. As soon as I get home, the first thing I have to do is have a shower.

Nowadays most of developed countries have laws against smoking in enclosed spaces. I do not understand why the Spanish government has lasted so long to introduce this law. But my opinion is that the fines for the people who do not carry out the law, they should be harder. People only understand when they have to pay a big amount of money.

To sum up, I think that smoking ban is a good law for everybody. Not only for non-smokers who they will not be passive smokers anymore but smokers will reduce the amount of cigarettes they usually smoke every day.
I hope in the future smokers will get used to smoke in open spaces where they do not bother the rest of people.
