Hello. I've applied to take the CELTA at Liverpool International Language Academy and will be attending my interview tomorrow, so any wise words of advise would be greatly welcomed! I've got plenty of interviews under my belt, but never for an educational course. I supposed it's just like a job interview in many respects, except I'm paying them!

Anyway, assuming I'm successful, you'll probably be seeing more of me.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike, I have just started my celta course. they will probably give you some language tasks but they are not looking for someone who is perfect in their knowledge of grammar just someone who would be able to learn quickly. the course is great fun but I have joined this forum because I am having some difficulties with the language tasks and need input. good luck

Well, I passed the interview and was offered a place on the course! Now all that remains is to pay the money and complete the pre-course tasks. I'll be starting in September.

Argh! I'm a student again!

Congratulations!

I wish you every success.

(Judging by the level of English evident in your first couple of posts, I'm sure you'll do well.)

Well, except that I used the verb 'advise' instead of the noun 'advice' in my first post...

But thanks anyway ;-)

Based on the interview, my biggest problem will be learning to gauge the learner's level of English and adjust the complexity of my explanations accordingly. Also, I need to make better use of non-verbal aids like the whiteboard and any objects that I might find to hand.

At least you recognise it for what it is. That has to be a good start!

Hello Ipanema,

Welcome to the forums. You are very welcome and need not be nervous.

You will be sent an e-mail periodically with details of a lesson to follow. There is no time constraint for completing each unit, and if you find they are too easy, you can skip to harder sections.
Alongside the lessons and exercises, when you have any specific questions about English usage, you can post them to these public forums and hopefully we will be able to help you.

You will find the lessons here:
http://www.english-test.net/lessons/index.html
And here are some other starting points:
