There we go with part 6.
I hope it's not too exhausting to listen to!
But I need to finish the chapter, otherwise the story would be incomplete and wouldn't make much sense.
Cheers Urs

Great house: what does it offer apart from what I have read for you? #39 (permalink) Sun Dec 11, 2011 13:13 pm   Great house: what does it offer apart from what I have read for you?

Great house:

What does the book offer, apart from what I have read to you?

I'm a bit sorry, but it seems to me not to contain much more of interest.

The narrator is an author who tells her own story - how she began to write, that she met a young Chilean and fell in love with him. By the way it was him who gave her his desk to care for when he decided to return to Chile and was later arrested and tortured by the Pinochet secret police. But of course, there were several other people involved in the whereabaouts of this special desk which gave the book sort of a thread.

For long sections I had to force myself to keep on reading, in the hope that there will be more to the book than I thought at the moment. At last, I was rewarded for my patience.

There were other small passages that would be worth to mention and to read, but at last, the most stringent part was what I read to you.

I think, the author tried to combine several short stories to a book, but in my opinion it was not more than a try...

I hope I made the best of it for you. And, after all, new book - new luck!

Cheers Urs
