Anone there... |
'As well (as)' means also/too. 'As well' goes at the end of a sentence, only. 'As well as' is placed at the beginning or in the middle of a sentence:
Please can I bring John as well?
Can I have a cake as well as a biscuit? |

Hi swami,
You asked for the difference between these two. As well means also/in addition. This sentence might help:
They didn't realise she wanted to come with them as well (in addition) because they left without her.
As well as is a comparative form of the adverb well. Look at this sentence:
Although the team played a good game, they didn't play as well as they did last year In other words the game this year was not as good as the game last year.
Hope this helps

I should have said: 'as well' goes at the end of a clause (not sentence, sorry), unless it means 'with equal effect'.
Example: I might as well go. |
