Hi,

Please have a look at this sentence:

'I like your writing style, but I'd prefer it if you don't use Spanish in your paragraph, 'cause I don't understand it.'

Do you think I should use 'didn't' instead of 'don't' here? I'm not sure about that because actually this seems to mean 'I don't want you to use Spanish in the future.'

You can use either; both 'didn't' (subjunctive) and 'don't' (indicative) mean non-past (present and future).
