A landlord is the owner of a house/apartment and rents the accommodation out to tenants/charges them a rent. A host is quite different. This is often someone who arranges a dinner party/meal for people and invites them to eat in the house. It is also used a lot to describe someone who introduces and presents a light entertainment programme on tv.
