Deletion problems

I am computer illiterate. How do I delete an answer? Some of my answers have an X for deletion. I understand that. But some of my answers have only the word "edit." How do I delete my answer?

If you were computer illiterate you wouldn't have got this far, James :)

You may not be able to delete older posts, only edit them.
Torsten has indicated that, in the future, users will be able to delete older posts too but it seems that this hasn't taken place yet.

Some people get around the problem by editing them to remove the content and replace it with a message such as
'posted in error'.
I have seen some leave the message:
'moderators. if you see this, please delete.'
Other people PM a moderator/administrator and ask them to remove the post on their behalf.
