Predictably, Wladimir Klitschko removed Haye's credentials as a serious heavyweight contender, and still less a reigning world champion, as formally as a member of the Fraud Squad feeling a collar.
- The only meaningful explanation of 'to feel smb's collar' I found was: to arrest or take someone into custody. An item of police jargon
Maybe this was the point the author was making as the article's title was "Once the talking stopped, boxing's great charlatan was found totally lacking"?
Thank you.

Perhaps the point is that the Fraud Squad expose impostors, as Klitschko supposedly did to Haye?
