I lived in New Jersey when I was a kid. Where in New Jersey were you? North or South? Very Happy

I lived with my folks in two separate places. When I first arrived, I stayed with one of my uncles in Jersey City. A week later, I moved to my other uncle's place in Piscataway. Though it's a suburb, I kind liked it there. The neighbors are nice and I get to jog and bike a lot. It's been a long time since I was there and I dunno if Middlesex County is in the north or south. All I knew is it took me an hour to get there from Newark or New York. Smile

Jersey City and Piscataway are both in North Jersey. I lived further south in Gloucester County -- about half an hour's drive from Philadelphia. I also lived briefly in Cape May County, which is even further south. Oddly enough, even though New Jersey is a very small state, people who live in southern New Jersey will normally never tell you that they come from New Jersey, but rather from "South Jersey". Laughing

Ron,

Did you ever make it over to Philly for a cheese steak (or cheesesteak)?

I'm assuming that Amy has had her fill of them, given that as an Iggles fan she must have spent some quality time in Philly.

One of my life goals is to get to Philly and eat... a... lot... of... them.

I tried a "Philly" cheese steak place here in downtown Nashville, and I left disappointed: I paid about $8 for a sandwich smothered in yellow cheese sauce (yum) but which only had about three ounces of beef. Spare me the rib-eye if I only get three ounces... gimme a pound of flank steak, if you need to keep costs the same! I'm hungrrrry!

Sorry. Never got the chance I'm afraid. But I did try Subway's version so I got an ikling on what the real thing tastes. I've got a thing for steaks. Very Happy

Though my relatives are Americanized, they still have a passion for Filipino food. We'd go down to a Filipino store and buy native foodstuffs.

You can be sure it's anything but bland. Our palates vary. You can partake of dishes that cross the whole spectrum. With regards to origin, we assimilated foreign influences, mostyl Spanish, Indian and Chinese. The result is a rather exotic cuisine. Smile

That makes two of us. Smile

We have a regional delicacy where the food is spicy. That is the Bicol Region, southeast of my location here in the Philippines. This area recently got hit hard by a typhoon a week ago.

The central Luzon region where my relatives come from are big on sweets.

My First ever Post #146 (permalink) Sun Jan 07, 2007 12:42 pm   My First ever Post

Hi Folks ,
This is Rajasekaran from India. One fine day, when I was casually gazing through the internet , I had a chance to gothrough this site. I believe this site is extremely useful for people who love to learn the intricacies of English . My travails with English has always been a part of my daily life. Though I feel Iam pretty decent in speaking and reading the language , I had never been a good writer. Whenever I pickup a piece of whitesheet and start putting my thoughts in to words, I invariably struggle .I get myself into a kindof mental block. The words simply refuse to flow out. I must say this site is a language encyclopedia which has got everything a novice ought to know about english..Hats off..

I plan to take GRE very soon ,and yes you got it right..Tht dreaded AWA !!!..Time has come for me to work more diligently on my Essay writing skill and I'll delighted if gurus here can help me out by evaluating my essays.
