Thanks again, Bill. : ) Next time, I'm going to ask you some questions about the BBC's TV program -- Topgear or something else. (Not only can I know more about you and your country, but I can improve my English skills by asking you questions as well. : ) ) _________________ Please feel free to correct me if you find any mistakes in my posts. |

Hello, I'm "The French", I am french and I try to learn English alone, but I am a little bit lost and this site. Perhaps you can help me to take the good way. I have a simple vocabulary, but I try to converse with you. If you can guide me, Thanks. If you like, you can tell us a bit more about yourselves. It’s always interesting to know the person behind the writing, especially their language and which corner of the world they are in. Learn, share and enjoy! |

Hello The French,
Nice to meet you. Welcome to this site. Here you'll find a lot of kind people who are willing to offer their kind help to you! 8) In your post you said "I lives in Normandie", I think it shoud be: "I live in Normandie". After the first person prenoun, you needn't add 's' to the verb. Just a friendly correction. Wish you have a nice weekend! : )
P.S. Normandie is a very well known place.

Hi Aro,
The UK is no longer 'flooded' with Poles. The latest government figures show the number of Poles going back home exceeds those moving here. The reason is due to lack of job opportunities. Unemployment in the UK is now 2,000,000 and rising. The Polish economy has not been hit as badly as the UK by the 'Credit Crunch', therefore many Poles are going home. The only complaint I have concerning Polish workers in the UK is the fact that under EEC rules they are able to claim benefit for children who are in Poland. This figure is quoted at £10,000,000 a year. Its not the Poles fault, its the fault of lax EEC rules. As for Hastings UK being flooded with Poles, that's nonsense. I have lived here for 30 years and see a balance of overseas visitors. Hastings is a seaside resort and is not far from Dover where most migrants enter the UK, therefore it is quite cosmopolitan. There are also more language schools here than in any other place in the UK. Of far more concern than hard-working legal Poles are the illegal immigrants in the UK who currently number 1,500,000 and have 66,000 children. Non of these are registered workers and do not pay tax. The government is considering given them an amnesty. If that happens then they can bring in all their families from abroad, claim UK benefits and get their children a free English education. Opponents to this idea suggest that will simply encourage human-traffic dealers to bring more illegal immigrants to the UK to serve our black economy.

You wrote; "hi all, I 'a new member from Burma. I 'd like to speak English fluently and write well. So I joined this forum. My English writing is not so good.So Please appoint my error writing. Thanks"
If it is of any help, you could have written your message as follows;
Hi All, I am a new member from Burma. I would like to speak and write English fluently. Hence, my reason for joining this forum. My English writing is not so good. Please would you point out any errors in my message.
Mant thanks, YOUR NAME :D
As an Englishman I will give you 9/10 for your effort. As we both know, the purpose of language is to communicate to one another. This you have done despite minor grammatical errors. No need to beat yourself up, olde chap, you're doing fine!
