A big hello to all new members! Do you feel your self when speaking English? #382 (permalink) Thu Jul 03, 2008 2:11 am   A big hello to all new members! Do you feel your self when speaking English?

Hi everyone,
I'm Mario, a cuban living in USA. I'm so exciting about this forum , it is a great opportunity to share and learn, also this is my first experience in a forum.
Sorry in advance for any mistake in my writings, Please feel free to correct me any time , that's why I'm here: to learn. Sometimes I feel , like somebody else said, lack of feelings using English , and I can't express my soul in the way I'd like to do.
However I do believe that sharing whith other regarding different topics and practicing more and more , we can feel more when using English. I ask to americans about any language matter that I don't feel when talking and I just repeat like a talking-bird .Knowing their points of view have helped me in this regard. However, I don't have so many american friends here to talk about . SO , THIS FORUM IS GREAT FOR ME.
For instance, I still no feeling anything when using ''Phrasal Verbs'' ( break up , sign up, shut down, close up, give up, etc),.I also don't understand what is the thinking mechanism when using then , How native speakers can use this , How they understand that . I just repeat then by memorizing the meaning like talking-bird. Does it has to be like that, by memory ? or ....
If you guys can help I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

I recommend to acquire the book of Judy Ravin entitled "Loose your accent in 28 days" its a good training to master the pronunciation...I think its very important to be understood clearly..so people won't ask you to repeat what you have said...Grammar can be learnt along the way...you need to master first he correct way of saying a word...hope it helps Wink

Dear Neda,

Thanks a lot joining our forum and posting your personal profile. It looks very good and there are only a few things I'd like to point out. First of all, please remember to put a period (.) at the end of each sentence. Also, please start every sentence with a capital letter. Here are some more suggestions:
