I just reread this topic again, and realised some misunderstanding from parts of the both of us I think ( if this sentence makes sense at all)
Anyway, when I was telling that little story of mine about the trainer, I only refered to that story of yours about that student who was in Upper Altaic.
You said You were talking to her in "based on exposure to Hungarian, Finnish, and Turkish..."
I thought You mixed these languages to sound like Upper Altaic.
Because a mix of these languages would never sound like an existing language to me, that's why I said Americans can't make a difference between them and I gave You an example by that trainer.

I wouldn't question the knowledge of a professor about the origin of languages,but other professors do it , you know.

No, Spencer, I was just making noises that sounded like a Ural-Altaic language. What I was saying was total nonsense in any language, but it sounded to her like the language in the Upper Altaic Republic.

Don't worry. I knew you didn't mean anything derogatory with the story about the trainer. Very Happy
