Hello, thanks for viewing this post.

Please point out the errors in the following sentences for me:

The English spoken in England is slightly different from the one spoken in the U.S.

I go to school everyday by taking bus, as do most students that live in my city.

Thank you!

Is there a mistake?

"The English spoken..." sounds correct to me as you differenciate between the Englishes.

For that reason "the" is appropriate to my mind.

Regards,

Ozzy

Well....my sweet sweet grammar book says that in the first sentence, "the one" is used incorrectly, as “English" is not a countable noun....

As in the second sentence, it says that "as do" should be replaced by "as with".... = =

Thank you for coming back on it,

Providing the information you do have helps others, who want to help you, focus on the exact problem. ; - )

I did not focus on the second sentence, though.

"I go to school everyday by taking bus," doesn't sound correct to me either.

Regards,

Ozzy

Naturally:
I go to school by bus every day, as do most students who live in my city.

Everyday (a 1 word phrase) means ordinary or commonplace.
Every day (a 2 word phrase) means daily.
The biggest mistake there is that you should have used 'every day'.

I do not understand grammar in this sentence below.

I go to school every day by taking bus, as do most students that live in my city.

I'd say

I go to school every day by taking a bus, as most students that live in my city do.

Thanks
