Write a paragraph about the status of women in the Arab/Muslim world, and do you think that women enjoy the equal rights as men? support your opinion with specific examples.

I don't think that women enjoy the equal rights as men, and this is due to the backwardness of the Arab thought of some men as an Arab society. Some men perhaps still live on the ideas of ancient times, for example, a man refuses her wife to have a job after getting married.

But, in order not to be unjust and to follow the path of neutrality, I will say in my point of view that this thought is due to the fear of man to his wife as he doesn't want her to contact with other men, that's why he is afraid and worried about her, I will also mention some of the reasons behind this fear; First, the religious thought or the religious morals for the Arab society – especially the Muslim side which prohibits the woman to interact with the society or continue her work, so the man thinks that god prohibits women to mix or interact with men.. So he prevents her from having a job because he thinks that only men should work.

Second, the backwardness that spread across the society as well as poverty and ignorance which led to deviation of the most of men, and drifting to every illegal way.

Finally, according to the events of the Arab revolts that are happening these days, I think that woman will have a great luck in practicing her role and interacting with different jobs in society, thus she will have a much greater chance to enjoy the equal rights as men in the Arab world, and this is because the youths of the modern generations may work to repair all the various inherited ideas due to the increase of the occupations of the Arab Nation in the west. They also may work to raise their children on new ideas and values that are full of democracy, freedom and equality for both men and women.
