don't suppose she'll say very long.

as leave - as leave of absence. That is 'as a day off-work as part of the allocation of time off which I am allowed to take within my working contract
on our staff - on the team of people we have working for/with us. There are seven vacancies on the work team.

Listen carefully to the soundclip and you will hear it correctly as 'stay very long'. It looks as if there is a typo in the transcript.
