1.'that' is assumed: Who would you recommend that I talk with?
2 (using 'should' but not 'would') and 3 are both appropriate answers. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Why not: 3.I would recommend you to talk with X. instead of: : I would recommend you talk with X.? = is the last sentence works gramatically similar like (without : 'to'): I made you talk with X.? |

Both mean the same.
Neither mean 'I made you talk with...' _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

I would recommend you talk with X.? 'talk' in this question is a verb, not a noun, right? why is there 'talk' without 'to', 'to talk'? is it a rule after: recommend and object-you? many thanks |

It's not just with 'recommend' and it's not just with 'you'. It follows standard rules for a number of verbs. Look at these: I suggest we run to the shops before they close. I hope they leave us alone in future. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Hi Saneta,
'Recommend ' is one of those verbs where you can use the infinitive, the -ing form and a that-clause. In the last example the word 'that' is often omitted as in your example:
| Quote: |
| I would recommend you talk with X. |

Hi, Mr Alan so :'that' can be omitted and should be in the following place:
I would recommend that you talk with X.?
thanks |

Yes, you can omit 'that' but if you use 'that', it should go where you have put it.
