1. It's not a very special thing that took me ages to make or was very expensive. It's plain and simple /quick and easy.
As it's an American English dialogue, 'chips' probably relates to crisps. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

No, nothing about the past. It could, for example, be talking about a meal. The person who prepared it would say 'it's nothing fancy' meaning it isn't made with expensive ingredients and it's not a cordon bleu type of high class cooking. It's nothing fancy but it's filling and will satisfy your needs. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

B., so why did you write: or was very expensive? = it is a past form shouldn't it be: it isn't made of expensive ingredients? please explain: it's not a cordon bleu type ?
Thank You |

English vocabulary frequently offers a choice of a number of word and tense phrases which can be considered correct.
I chose to write 'was' because I was thinking about it being expensive when I bought it - I bought it in the past and am using it now. I chose to write 'made with' because the product is made with those ingredients, that is, by combining those ingredients. The ingredients are the materials used to make the product. cordon bleu = http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/102150.html _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
