http://www.english-test.net/toeic/listening/last-minute_problem.html

1. Now to JC.= Now I'm turning to JC= Now I'm speaking to JC?
2. a last-minute rush of vendors= a last-minute haste/scud of vendors?
3. get someone to proof the programs when they're ready=get someone to check the programs when they're ready?
4. I can have someone take care of that - I can order someone to take care of that?- please tell me what does this construction mean: have + object + the infinitive without 'to'?
5. How are you coming with arrangements for the exposition this weekend? = How are things going on with arrangements for the exposition this weekend?

Thank You very much

1. yes
2. A number of vendors acting in haste at the last opportunity to book a display booth for the exposition.
3. proof = proof-read = check them, yes.
4. yes. 'have someone take' / 'ask someone to take' : 'have' doesn't usually use 'to' with the infinitive. ... have someone look at that / ...have someone cook that for you
5. yes.

Dear Beeesneees. The term is proofread. One word. No hyphen. The same goes for other forms of the word: proofreader, proofreading. Somehow, some way, the word gets split in two or includes a dreaded hyphen in lots of advertisements and employment requests. What means that "proof-read" is mistake in official English,or isn't ?Thanks in advance

English is an evolving language. The term 'proofread' has been written as 'proof-read' for so long that it has become acceptable.
