please explain:
1.softball
2. I haven't swung a bat or thrown a ball in years. what does ''in years'' mean?
why not:I haven't swung a bat or thrown a ball for years.?
3. We'd love to have you on the team = why not: We'd love to have you in the team?
4. we could really use you on Sunday=we could really take advantage of you on Sunday?
5. get into better shape= cause to be better physically fit?
6. shouldn't it be:non competitive instead of :noncompetitive?

1. A game similar to baseball, but 'easier' (so popular with children).
2. Both are possible and mean the same.
3. Both are possible, but 'on a team' is more common.
4. We could really do with your help.
5. yes
6. Personally I'd probably use 'non-competitive'. All three versions are acceptable.
