Meaning of PLAYPARK #1 (permalink) Mon Apr 24, 2006 17:31 pm   Meaning of PLAYPARK

Hi everybody!. I would like to know if the word "Playpark" means a park with slides, swings, small wooden houses... where little boys and girls play. Someone told me that, but I was looking it up in Collins dictionary and it was not there. So, I really hesitate. In case of being right, Can you tell me as well if I can use "playpark" for both, "outside" playparks and "inside" playparks, please?. Thanks in advance!

'Playground' or just 'park' are more commonly used than 'play park', I think. But I would use the term 'play park' (or playing/recreation area) for an indoor playing space. There are also play-pens where babies can be left to play safely.

The word that's normally used is "playground", as Conchita says. I wouldn't call an indoor facility like that any kind of park, but I don't know what we would call it. I see from Google that it's often called an "indoor play facility", and some call it an "indoor playground".

To me, "playpark" sounds like something you have to pay to enter.
