Hello, Lama. You probably already look like a native speaker, since there are English native speakers of all ethnic origins. Your speaking also is quite natural, especially your sentence flow. Of course you have some accent, but I would not be able to guess where you're from. When you listen to native speakers, notice how the pronouns (in your case, 'it') is greatly reduced and shortened to [ət]; it carries no stress at all.

Hello guys,
I hope you are all doing fine. I would really appreciate it if you listen to my recording and give me your opinion about my accent.

Lama, I think you have a very nice speaking voice. I can understand you easily in most places, and you sound like quite a natural and fluent speaker. Strangely, to me you sound like you could be a native Spanish speaker, especially the way you say "opinion". I'm not great at identifying accents though! To me (from the UK) you also sound as if you have learnt English in America or from American speakers (of course, I don't in any way mean that is bad, I only mention it for info/interest).

Just a couple of points:

"I would really appreciate it" -- you could perhaps articulate this more clearly, and stress "appREciate" rather than "appreciATE".

"native" -- I struggle a bit to pick up this word. You could maybe try pronouncing the "t" a bit more clearly.

Hello Mister Micawber and Dozy, thank you both very much. I will take your pieces of advice very seriously. As for you Dozy, I am tought English by some tearchers who speak American and others who speak British; however, they are all Syrian. By the way, I don't know any thing about Spanish; I only hear some from movies. Thanks again for your responses.

Hello natives could you please speak with us in our thread "Speak spontaneously" and tell us about our pronunciation of the words too. You can also participate with us so that we could listen to your accent and the way you pronounce English words.

Hello everyone,

I’m very happy to see the interactions of this topic page related to pronunciation, accent and intonation of English language. I felt like I was looking for such discussions since long. The participants of this page so far have devoted lot of efforts by this time in learning English and actively taking part as moderators here. I’d try my best to take part in this page regularly to share the views of all here for the purpose of improving my skills.

Thanks,
Mujibur

Hello, Imsriram.

I am impressed with everyone's ability here! Your English is quite clear. As you listen to native speakers, notice how many unstressed vowel sounds are reduced to [ə], and how pronouns are shortened; for instance, 'our' is pronounced [ɑɚ], as a single syllable in the flow of speech. Also, notice that the 'l' in 'could' is silent: [kud].

Hello, Mujibur.

Your English too is pleasant to listen to. I think you primarily need to pay attention to the pronunciation of particular words, for instance 'interaction' [intɚ 'æk ʃən]. You also need to close down the unstressed [ɚ] of for, effort, [], ['e fɚt] etc. and be sure to always stop your [t] clearly, as in felt [felt].

Hello, Mister Micawber,

Glad to have your feedback on the posts here. Unfortunately I’m not that familiar with the phonetics. I’m trying to update my knowledge related to phonetics from the internet. However, I’m sure your guidelines and instructions would be of much help for improving my spoken English. Hope to have more feedback from you!

With warm regards,

Mujibur
