1. Sarah was shy, but now she is very outgoing.
2. Sarah would always be shy, but now she is very outgoing.
Are these two sentences correct grammatically?
Do they mean the same?

#1 is not actually incorrect, but it would be more usual to say "Sarah used to be shy, but now she is very outgoing." "used to be" emphasises that we're talking about her habitual past state.

#2 does not feel right. It's unusual to use "would be" to express a habitual past state (as opposed to action), and here it doesn't work well.
