Topic: In some countries, the average worker is obliged to retire at the age of 50. While in others people can work until they are 65 or 70. Meanwhile, we see some politicians enjoying power well into their eighties. Clearly, there is little agreement on an appropriate retirement age. Until what age do you think people should be encouraged to remain in paid employment?

The retirement age varies from countries to countries. Some countries set the highest working age to 50, and set different for female and male, like in China; however, other countries oblige their employees to retire in their 65s or 70s. From my prospective, the idea retirement age should be rely on individual condition, not apply the same age to every individual.

For one thing, people should determine which age range is suitable for retirement. When people in their younger age, they could make something to contribute our society. Everything they did could make profit to the economy. However, when people become older, some people desire to escape from the complex world and find some quite place to enjoy their life. If the government forces them to wok until certain age, they might not willing to sacrifice themselves to work, which would not produce good to society. In contrary, especially for people who work in the government, they could waste the position in the office and burden the society.

For another thing, in today’s fast growing day, any country need some fresh blood to update the technology, information, industry composition and other aspect of the country; otherwise, it would be lag behind with others. For example, if companies always not to fresh their human resources, companies could not think out the newest idea about their development strategy, the consequence would be a disaster for the companies. Therefore, for employers, they should determine whether the person should leave or stay in terms of their ability. If one’s talent could not meet the requirements, he could choose to retire or other companies, not till the obliged retirement age.

In one word, whatever its merits or drawbacks, in my opinion, like the old saying, people should use the talent in their best not give any oblige to the retirement age.
