ROFL, exactly
I feel like a lot of people on here are prolly too young to remember much before the mid-90s or so...
So here's to Boyz II Men, probably the top R&B group of the early-mid '90s.
Here were their hits, all coming in that span (about 1991-1995):
- Motownphilly - It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday - Uhh-Ahh - End of the Road - I'll Make Love To You - On Bended Knee - Water Runs Dry - One Sweet Day (w/ Mariah Carey)
That's not a lot of hits, per se... but four of those were among the biggest hits of the 1990s:
End of the Road I'll Make Love to You On Bended Knee One Sweet Day
Check out the songs on YouTube or VH1.com

...they had a couple hits after 1995, but nothing approaching their 1991-95ish success. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

In Ireland and Britain, a similar boyish threat became reality at that time - Boyzone!
There impact was truely terrible, and the charts were shaken by these tunes serenading leagues of teenage girls' hearts:
Singles * 1994 "Love Me for a Reason" #2 UK * 1995 "Key to My Life" #3 UK * 1995 "So Good" #3 UK * 1995 "Father and Son" #2 UK * 1996 "Coming Home Now" #4 UK * 1996 "Words" #1 UK * 1996 "A Different Beat" #1 UK * 1997 "Isn't It a Wonder" #2 UK * 1997 "Picture of You" #2 UK * 1997 "Baby Can I Hold You/Shooting Star" #2 UK * 1998 "All That I Need" #1 UK * 1998 "No Matter What" #1 UK, #2 AUS, #12 US Adult Contemporary Chart * 1998 "I Love the Way You Love Me" #2 UK * 1999 "When the Going Gets Tough" #1 UK * 1999 "You Needed Me" #1 UK * 1999 "Everyday I Love You" #3 UK

Oh be Jaysus, them! The most fearsome five ever to leave Dublin after 1921...
Will wonders never cease!

That's more like it. Best album 1993!
Best album 1994 - Dookie by Green Day. _________________ Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL Preparation & TOEFL Vocabulary Learn more: How to Become an English Teacher |

boyz II men weren't quite a boy band though -- I've always thought of them as more of R&B/pop/swing fusion.
NSync, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone they were (are?) not, IMO.
And look who's back -- New Kids On The Block!
We junior high boys hated them in the late '80s, as they stole the hearts of our female cohorts. "I like you, Tom -- we can even hold hands -- but I'm not going to 2nd base with anyone but Joey (McEntire, or however it's spelled)!"
Ralf -- I was born in '76 (March)
Nina, boyz ii men were good singers. And did you see the hip dance moves in the Motownphilly video? I remember dressing like that too.. still can't beat '90s fashion! lol More '80s greats (getting back to that decade):
Billy Ocean Billy Idol Bruce Hornsby and the Range Human League Thompson Twins Spandau Ballet Cheap Trick Eddie Money Huey Lewis and the News Mike and the Mechanics Genesis Phil Collins Bananarama Berlin Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Sinead O'Connor (not sure if the big one was 89 or 90) Steve Winwood Siouxsee and the Banshees Bobby Brown Poison Warrant Winger Def Leppard LA Guns Whitesnake The Cult Europe The Cure Skid Row Dead Kennedys Dead Milkmen Cher T'Pau Journey Quiet Riot Twisted Sister Judas Priest The Traveling Wilburys (?) The Honeydrippers Kenny Loggins Paula Abdul Michael McDonald Motley Crue AC/DC Megadeth Some of those acts were good, others forgettable... but all had hits in the 80s. Some had hits before and/or after the 80s.
Someone mentioned Metallica... for my money, prolly one of the top five rock/metal bands of the last 25 yrs.
But looking at the list... toss in NKOTB, Michael, Janet, Whitney, Madonna, Bon Jovi, etc... total trip down memory lane. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

...and U2, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Midnight Oil, Faith No More, Terrence Trent D'Arby, Cinderella, Public Enemy, Michael Bolton, Bryan Adams, Roxette and MILLI VANILLI!
The choreography in their Girl You Know It's True video still makes me howl. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |
