The choreography in their Girl You Know It's True video still makes me howl. |
You just reminded me of my tomboy days. Believe it or not, I was into rap music, baggy clothes, and Caterpillar boots. Gosh, how did I ever fall for that.
And don't forget Ice Ice Baby.
BTW, this trip down memory lane really starts to creep me out. |

ROFL, YOU wore CATERPILLAR BOOTS?! LOL!!!!
That is awesome -- totally authentic.
Did you ever wear a clock necklace?
hehe
As for NKOTB, yeah, Joey was the main nemesis. And his last name's meaning in your Malay language is hilarious. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

Have you guys ever heard of baggy or rave (sound)? When I was 16 I was trying hard to dress and move exactly like Ian Brown, the lead singer of The Stone Roses. This clip from the Late Show took me down memory lane again -- it all goes pear-shaped some 50 seconds into the clip! And have a listen to this interview, the Mancunian legend is still alive and kicking _________________ Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL Preparation & TOEFL Vocabulary Learn more: How to Become an English Teacher |

That first clip us precious, Ralf!
Nina, I was feigning shock at the caterpillar-boots info -- they were en vogue for a spell for girls and dudes alike.
Still, I'm thrilled to hear that you're a girly girl.
hehe
I forgot some from yesterday's lists:
Debbie Gibson Tiffany Van Halen (doh!!!) Aerosmith (doh again!!!) The Police Starship (formerly Jefferson Airplane) Boston Expose (expoZAY) Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark (OMD) Taylor Dayne Lionel Richie (is there a T in it? crap!) Martika (Toy Soldiers) Stevie Wonder
I spent an hour last night trying to remember the notable groups of the 80s (aside from those mentioned in my chronological-faves list) and I still managed to forget these folks. And surely I've forgotten others even now, after several attempts to name them.
We might not have known how to dance or how to dress, but there were a lot of notable (well, some were anyway) musical acts in the 80s.
And I just realized I forgot MC Hammer. U can't touch this. Break it down!
Nice call on Vanilla Ice, Nina. For a few months he was the biggest thing going. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

I know they were for both girls and boys. I just wish I had listened to my mother and had different wardrobes.
I am not that girly, girly, by the way.
And thanks for the list. Had fun browsing them. (I am listening to the Police --Every breath you take, as I am writing this)
Did you guys also listen to Karyn White, Olivia Newton John or even Mariah Carey?

Olivia Newton-John and Mariah C, yep. Not sure about Ms. White.
Mariah had me with her first CD. Then she started using that glass-breaking squeal, which sounds to me like nails on a chalkboard. But when she wants to sing without the squealing, I generally like her stuff. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

Oh, you were referring to her "Spectacular range spanning 5 octaves"?

Hello lady and gentlemen , Listening to music is one of my hobbies. I can listen any kinds of music if the song is wonderful. I like Westlife, Il Divo, Asley Tisdale, Rihanna, Ne-yo, Justin,Avril Lavigne.etc.The English songs help me listen English and I can learn more structures, new worlds through lyrics. Music also helps me entertain. |

| Hey, and what about SCORPIONS? Have you ever listened their songs? I think it's one of the most underrated bands ever. They are really positive and, imho, stand out among many other rock bands for their life-asserting, peaceful and deeply emotional songs. Important to add, they are nice and friendly people, who haven't been spoiled by fame - just rocking even after 40 years since their start. |
