What is your favourite pop or rock band? #1 (permalink) Sat Oct 16, 2004 7:51 am   What is your favourite pop or rock band?

Good morning everybody,

How are you today? Learning English by listening to music can be one of many activities you should pursue.
So, what kind of music do you listen to? Do you have any favourite rock or pop band? Why do you like them most? What about the lyrics - do you try to understand the words of the songs you hear?

TOEIC listening, question-response: Would you rather get a Blackberry or an I-phone?

Hi Torsten! I prefer listening to music and I don't think about words.
Now I am going to sea to swim a bit.
Relax a bit too. Torsten

Torsten,
I too feel my language skills increases while listening to english lyrics. But I do not have any special Pop/Rock stars. Sometimes to flatter my girlfriend I use to browse for Brian Adams lyrics :)

Indian pop music? #4 (permalink) Sat Oct 16, 2004 12:04 pm   Indian pop music?

Joe,

What kind of pop music do young people in India listen to? I mean, what is the percentage of English songs played on radio stations throught the country? You probably also have a domestic music scene - who are the most popular bands from India?

Here Jackson, Brian Adams, Brintney are popular.... ,but only to upper middle/High class of the society. We dont have english musics broadcasted througout india. But we do have T.V channels like [V], Mtv which 24 hours English music channels.

Hai spiderman,
Hacking is a way you can learn things more thoroughly and intrestingly. It is intresting to search for a minor flaw in computer systems. Meanwhile Hacking ( just knowing the way) is not cracking(exploiting it illegaly) :)

Hi! #8 (permalink) Mon Oct 18, 2004 12:10 pm   Hi!

And when it comes to music...i just adore Sting and George Michael.
I also like listening to Pink Floyd and Phill Collins.
I like the feeling when I understand what the singer is singing about. When I`m home alone I always sing with my favourite singers aloud!!
when I`m not alone I do it as well!!! :D
And you?

Hi Torsten!
Well, I actually don`t kow what music is popular in Russia now because I myself listen only to music I like... well, as for any American or just English-singing groups...well, I like Reamonn, I like Madonna and I simply adore Janet Jackson together with her brother Michael!!! By the way I also like George Michael and some works by Sir Elton John... A bit old-fashioned you may think but anyway I find it really worth listening than some modern pop & rock... Though in fact my really favourite music is a bit of other kind))) But that`s another topic)))

Hi Witch!
That`s nice you try to sing songs together with your idols))) That`ll really help you to improve your language..though it may become more American than British..Anyway, good luck to you))

Hi Witch,
I like Backstreet Boys, too. I set one of their songs as a ring alert for my mobile phone. :D

The specific music! #13 (permalink) Thu Nov 11, 2004 23:39 pm   The specific music!

Hi everyone,

Yes, about music I think that all the people are interested in different music .
About me I like such music as: pop, rap, techno, classic, blues, сhanson = I like such music which I like, for example: Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, Mihail Krug, 2PAC, Club-Heads there are many music melodies which I like.
Music is a very great thing, you can relax yourself in a difficult moment, as by me I can hear music in any free time (but sometimes it isn't possible in any time).
When I hear some good music that I like I get more mood (and sometimes you get a desire to do something else) 8)

Thank's for reading! :)

What is your favourite pop or rock band? #15 (permalink) Fri Nov 12, 2004 18:03 pm   What is your favourite pop or rock band?

Hello Everybody!!!

My favourite kind of music is absolutely Rock. I like the sound of loud gitarres and drums. "The Offspring" are my personal gods of Punk Rock. Another great Band is Greenday. I'm so glad, that they will visit my hometown in january. Today I have bought the tickets for me and my friends. It will be a fantastic concert, because the new album ( American Idiot) is very good. In their whole career they have written a lot of great songs, like "When I come Around; Basket case; Good Riddence and so on".
But I also like Hip Hop, R&B and soul. When I'm going out on weekend I prefer to visit clubs in which they play black music. Because there are sweeter and more girls than in clubs with Rock music. 8)

thanks for attention
