That was very edifying! I wasn't cognizant of those subtle distinctions and historic facts, though I had a general idea of what countries the UK was made up of.

Actually Tort I think there might be some mistakes in it........

At one point it says that only People in the republic of Ireland are "Irish" well let me tell you now - I was born in Northern Ireland but Im 100% Irish.
I also have two Passports - An Irish one and a British one.

I am a Catholic and proud to be "Irish" - while Loyalist Protestants generally call themselves loyalists and "British".

But I could also call myself British too! (If I was nuts) :-)

Funnily enough I know quite a few Protestant friends who have an Irish Passport they take with them on Holiday after it was discovered you often get better service etc with an Irish Passport :-)

Hi Jamie,
Confess, didn't know the Union Jack was formed by as simple the act as merging. Small wonder there's no place on it for the green of Ireland, or it would look like Rainbow. Kidding.
