Hello Everyone,

I've started this thread because I want to try and encourage more people here on the forum to start talking. We have many wonderful topics going on but I think some people might feel too intimidated or too unsure to do more than listen.

So every week I will set a specific topic in this thread for us to discuss. Please let's stick to the current topic and encourage others to open up and join us.

Don't worry about your level of English or your pronunciation. We are all here to help each other learn. The best way to improve your speaking ability is just open up your mouth and start talking.

Try to answer the questions asked for each new topic. Feel free to ask more questions or share stories with us that are related to the current topic.

Hi Megan,

Thank you for your new topic. After Speak Spontaneously thread I would like to have a writing drill.

Good questions! I am a hearty eater, and I like tasty food. My favorite dishes are ones which include meat as the main ingredient. I am fond of different kind of cutlets, roast -beefs, stews and so on. I love various Russian soups - with meat of course: borshch, shchi, pelmeny, solyanka, rassolnik and many others.

What about salads? Why not. There is nothing better than tomato salad with some cheese, garlic and a little bit of vegetable oil.

As for dessert I adore the pastry and the cakes my auntie bakes. To say that they are adorable is too little - they are gorgeous. I like any holiday table laid by my auntie - it is something like a piece of art!

Yuri

hello Megan and everyone,
'Let us start talking' is a great thread and thanks for initiating it, Megan has made a good effort to make us to talk,i believe it will really help those who are intimidated to speak or communicate in English, because i was one of them,:) but now I'm feeling really happy to talk, actually I try to post more and more voice message as much as possible, in fact i'm quite obsessive with my English practice because I enjoy it lot. I've gained more confidence as far as my English communication is concerned,

Megan, I want to ask you a question, that how to check on which level my English is? I've heard people saying about their English speaking level, what is that?

And about food I've so much things to talk,
basically my ancestor were vegetarians so am I, I don't have any Favorite food, i eat any thing which is tasty(veg),

I don't like those food which is bitter in taste.

In India we have 29 states, and food style is more then that and very different from each other. Here we eat boiled food,as far as my knowledge goes people don't like row food. Rice, wheat, corn, is more preferred, chicken, pork, is common those who eat non-veg, fish is famous in coastal belts, If somebody visit to India and different states here, it seems like it's not different states,it's different country itself. so
I think the reason behind to have such a variety of food style is because not only for tasty purpose but also because of weather condition as well, In north part of India it's very cold, often snow fall happen, in middle it's hot, and find dessert, and in south it's coastal, we have all kind of weather conditions here and accordingly food styles,

yes, I like cooking, not every day, only when I feel to cook. I like 'Maggie' noodle and my man too, so I cook it.

I haven't tried pizza yet,I've heard about it a lot, i want to try it,and I'll one day.

that's it for now, take care, have a nice time
Bharati.
