Important question on personal examples in writing question 2

great forum! I was wondering if I could give personal examples in the second essay I have to write on the toefl.

e.g. minimum drinking age.

I give a certain statement and the write an example such as: When I was a grown up my peer group forced me to start drinking with them, otherwise they wouldn't have accepted me.

Would that work?
